A medical transcriptionist is a virtual assistant totally different from other virtual assistants. They are not only one of the most highly trained and skilled individuals who listen to voice files and covert them into text files which should be at least 98% error free. This density may sound impossible to the untrained or the unfamiliar, but that density is just a day in life of a medical transcriptionist who may complete one assignment in a matter of hours, sometimes shorter.

The applicant must be very, very familiar with medical jargon for if they are not they would just end up inventing words which cannot be accepted as any mistake in medical terms could mean the life or death of a client or patient.

Another thought, how well does the applicant react to close supervision? There are some highly skilled workers who only like to work alone. Medical transcription finished products have to be closely proofed and edited before they could be passed on. If there are errors which are too numerous to mention the product could be rejected and this means not only a loss of money for the service company but it would also mean that the time spent to wait for a perfect product would mean a delay in the treatment of a patient or client.

Medical transcriptionist service companies in India only look for the most qualified applicants who fit the criteria of a good transcriber. If they fail to recognize the capacity of their personnel, it would mean the reputation of the company and the life of the patients.

The training can go for up to six months with pay, however the trainees have to go through assessments and tests which they have to pass every time with flying colors. Remember, the job demands perfection, if the trainees are not going to submit perfect work then they might as well do something else other than medical transcription.
